Biography Maria Carreón Ayers is the principal and founder of Carreón Consulting LLC – a business that specializes in developing sustainable language access solutions to help organizations better serve culturally and linguistically diverse communities. As a former public servant, she created the first Language Services Program at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and expanded access to over-the-phone interpretation services across Colorado through the Department of Personnel & Administration’s NASPO agreement. Maria’s work as a Bridging The Gap certified interpreter keeps her close to the community and helps inform all areas of her work. As a consultant, Maria leverages her in-depth knowledge of federal requirements and 18 years of experience to resolve language access challenges across various health and government sectors. The forefront of Maria’s work focuses on addressing and advancing the CLAS standards by providing training and technical assistance to local and state agencies, such as the Office of Behavioral Health, as well as regional partners and multidisciplinary advisory groups.
