Monica Kent, CLPE – Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services & Cold Case Review Team – “Forensic Latent Print Examination”
Session description: This language-neutral class will give participants an overview of the forensic latent print examination and identification process. The session will cover what a latent print is, latent print composition, friction ridge skin structure, latent print processing, the basis for fingerprint identification, database searching (AFIS/IAFIS), and latent print conclusions and testimony. Participants will receive a basic English glossary of latent print terminology.
Note: This session will be presented in conjunction with “Firearms Terminology” by Alicia Vallario.
Presenter bio: Monica Kent is currently serving as a Forensic Scientist / Latent Print Examiner at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Prior to her work at CBI, Monica began her career as a Latent Print Examiner at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in the spring of 2009, and has also served as a Fingerprint Specialist GS-9 at the United States Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory. Monica is an International Association for Identification Board Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE). She earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Forensic and Investigative Science from West Virginia University and is currently enrolled in the Master of Science (Forensic Science Administration) program with Oklahoma State University.
