Alicia Vallario, Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services Crime Lab – “Firearms”
Session description: This language-neutral class will give participants an overview of forensic firearm examination. The session will cover the basis for firearms and toolmark identification, terminology, serial number restoration, muzzle to target distance determination, microscopic comparison, database (NIBIN) use, and firearms and toolmark conclusions and testimony. Participants will receive a basic English glossary of firearm terminology.
Note: This session will be presented in conjunction with “Latent Prints” by Monica Kent.
Presenter bio: Alicia Vallario is a Forensic Firearm and Toolmark Examiner with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services Crime Laboratory in Denver, CO. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Forensic Chemistry and Criminal Justice. She received her training at the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab in 2008 and was able to move back to her home state in 2011 to work for CBI.
